Build Your List

There is no excuse not to have an ezine/newsletter list. In fact, you don’t even need your own product or service before starting a targeted list. All you need is an autoresponder and an opt-in box on your website.

Once you do create your own product or service, you’ll be happy that you already have your list in place. By then, you’ll already have readers who are interested in what you have to say. In fact, it will make it easier to sell those things when the time comes because a relationship will already be developed.

The Key = If you can get a targeted list of people who trust you, love your products and see you as an expert in your field your chances of reaching success have just skyrocketed above everyone else.

Quick Tip #1: Get Them to Opt-In

You should always offer quality content for free on your site so that when you do create an offer your readers are already confident that what you’re offering is worth their time and money.

Here are some ideas to entice your visitors to sign up for your list:

The importance of a powerful squeeze page can’t be stressed enough. An excellent squeeze page can accomplish many things from building your list all the way to increasing your sales by leaps and bounds.

One of the primary reasons to have a squeeze page is to “squeeze” the email address out of your reader so you can use the information they provide to you for follow up marketing.

Used properly, your squeeze page has the power to boost your visitor-to-subscriber conversion rates allowing you to send follow-up communications that will then help convert your subscribers to buyers.

These 4 quick tips will be easy to implement getting you on the right track to success in no time.

Quick Tip #1: K.I.S.S. It

Keep It Simple Silly. A squeeze page is meant to serve one purpose – to get subscribers to your list. Don’t clutter it up with other offers and affiliate links. As a matter of fact, it is better to have less on a squeeze page than to overwhelm your visitor with too many options.

…while Avoiding Freebie Seekers

You know the importance of having a list of potential buyers. While building a customer relationship and trust you will ultimately convert potential customers into buying customers. Offering an incentive to get visitors to sign up for your list(newsletter) is a great idea. But how do you avoid freebie seekers?

Just as important as the size of your list is the RESPONSIVENESS of your list.

After all, a huge list of subscribers doesn’t mean a thing if no one ever responds to your offers. On the flip side, you can lead a decent living simply from the income coming from a small, highly responsive list. (Just imagine the kind of life you’ll lead with a big, responsive list!)

The responsiveness of your list is dependent on a combination of several factors, including but not necessarily limited to:

  • How well you’ve attracted a niche market (rather than a general mass market group of subscribers). The more focused your niche, the better your response.

Example: If you have a website selling Christian scrapbooking supplies, then you need to attract scrapbookers (who are Christian) to your site. Simply attracting “crafters” won’t do. Nor will attracting a scrapbooker who isn’t a Christian.

How to Pull In As Much Profit As Your Wallet Will Hold
With Opt-In Lists

By Jimmy D. Brown

The fortune is in the list.

If I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard that said, well, I’d already have a fortune! :-)

However “broken-recordish” it may sound, it is a truthful statement. The fortune REALLY IS in the list.

Fact is, if you possess the knowledge of how to grow and profit from opt-in lists, you can pretty much write your own ticket.

And, if you’ll read the remainder of this article, I’ll pass that knowledge right on to ya.

It comes down to getting folks to do four things…

1. REQUEST. First things first, you need to convince people to “opt-in” to your list. That is, get them to join your list of their own free will.

Usually, this involves giving away a mini-course, report or newsletter from your web site. All you need is..

- An Attention Grabbing Title. (I could have chosen “4 Keys to Successful Email Promotions” for this article, but is that as attention-grabbing as “How to Pull in As Much Profit As Your Wallet Will Hold From Opt-In Lists”?)

Before you start building your list, it’s important to understand why you need one. Sure, you hear everyone saying that building a list is the “thing” to do, but if you don’t understand the reasons, you won’t be as motivated to do so.

Reason #1 — Build Your Own Business

While there is a lot to be said for getting to the top of the search engines and advertising to promote your business, there’s nothing like having your own list. A list is something that you control at all times. You control its size, your relationship with members, and even how much money you make.

By having a list, you are building your business on solid ground. That’s not to say that search engine traffic isn’t wonderful and you should quit advertising. However, developing a list of leads or customers can be worth much more to you in the long run when combined with both of those methods of traffic.

Reason #2 — Understand That People Are More Likely To Buy From Those They Trust

4 Quick Tips for Creating Effective Email Subject Lines

Using subject lines the right way can greatly improve the number of people who actually open and read your emails. Unless your subscribers open the email they can’t read and act upon all the goodies inside, right? What do your subject lines say to your readers? Are they drab and make your subscribers head for the delete button or do they POP and make them want to read further?

If you’re struggling to get your emails opened, there’s no better time than now to give your prospects what they signed up for. These five quick scrapbook business tips will give you actionable steps you can utilize to craft email subject lines that get noticed and have your readers begging for more.

Quick Tip #1: Maintain Relevance

Make certain your subject line is appropriate for the subject of your list. A reader who signs up for your list expecting one thing, but receiving something completely out of line with what they signed up to receive will not be in the buying mood. For instance, if you are a custom scrapbook artist – don’t send your readers an email with the subject line:

Although many of you now know the importance of building your lists, you might not be aware of how a highly targeted opt-in list is crucial for your business. Let’s review and take action! First, decide on your niche or target market. Knowing what this is not only gives you something to focus on, but will help you find the people who will be interested in the information you have to provide.

Note: if you scrapbook for others, then scrapbookers are not your target market.

Finding a niche or target market which will be profitable is part of your initial research. While choosing a topic that might be of interest and passion to you, may not be the best choice for an online business venture. It may be difficult for people to gain trust in your products if you don’t carefully research first. Look for something a little more promising financially.

4 Quick Tips for Marketing with Autoresponders Marketing with autoresponders is one of the best ways to increase your online income. A mailing list is your most valuable asset, but only if handled with care will it work in your favor. The important part is that you know how to use it to its greatest potential. Before we get into the tips of actually marketing to your list, let’s go over some basics about autoresponders and the steps you need to take before you ever send that first email. Find the Right Autoresponder for YOU Don’t just sign up for the first autoresponder system Joe-Marketer tells you about. There are so many systems out there to choose from. A specific system may work great for one person but might be too much (or not enough) for someone else. Compare each of them and find the one that best fits your needs and budget. Making a wise decision before undergoing a marketing campaign can and will make a difference. Yes, you can change to a new autoresponder later, but why go through the hassle if it’s not necessary. Choose wisely. Some popular options are…

Have you tried, and possibly failed, to build an opt-in list? Maybe you have started to build a list, but things are going the way you expected.  Not all is lost, you still have a chance to breathe some life into your list, and get it working for you instead of against you.

Although you may not be new to internet marketing, I want to back-track a little and go over some of the points to help you get your list growing. Your list needs to help, not hinder the growth of your online business. This isn’t a session of pointing fingers. It’s simply a time to make sure you have the information necessary to succeed.

The relationship between you and your subscribers must be one of trust. If there is no trust, you will not likely get that person to sign up. If they do they may not stay. Here are a few strategies to build and maintain trust:

#1 They must be able to opt-out. Make sure each customer signing up for your newsletter or information knows they have a quick and easy option to unsubscribe when they like. A simple statement at the bottom of your opt-in box or email is fine.  This is actually required by the CAN-SPAM Act.

The difference between the customer who buy from you one time and those who buy from you multiple times is often due to the amount of communication they receive after their initial transaction.

Even if your customer had a great experience with you, you are likely to fall to the back of their mind if they don’t hear from you for a while. If they receive follow-up emails from you, it’s an entirely different matter. You’ll be on their mind and you will likely create a lifetime customer after you consistently deliver.

I highly recommend that you implement a system of ongoing follow-up notices to your customers. If you don’t, you’ll be out of sight and out of mind. There are many other businesses out there that are vying for your customer’s attention and they’ll get the customer that you once had. These follow-ups can be in the form of a monthly newsletter or even a card in the mail.

You don’t have to sell with each contact, but keep in touch, share a little about yourself, give quality information that relates to your product or service. Sell scrapbook supplies? Share a tip on getting the most out of a scrapbooking tool. Custom scrapbooker? Share the importance of archival products.

Whenever you speak with another Internet Marketer you’re probably likely to hear the following questions come up at some point:

Do you have a list?

or

How big is your list?

If your answer to these questions was “no” and “zero,” then this article series is definitely a place to start. On the other hand, if you do have an established list, there’s always room for improvement. I recommend that you make it a priority to continue to learn strategies for increasing your list size and also increasing the amount of income generated from it.

Having a list can literally be your ticket to earning the kind of income you dream of earning. Many marketers focus on getting to the top of the search engines to build their businesses, but having a list can literally “Google-proof” your income. If, heaven-forbid, you get dropped from the search engines tomorrow, there’s no need to close up shop – if you have a list.

It doesn’t matter whether your business is online or off; having your own list of customers or prospective customers means that you can get them to visit your website, blog, or store on command. This ability to summon traffic on command can keep your income steady through good times with Google and the not-so-good times.
