Thanks to my friend Lynn Terry I found out about this video The Internet Marketing Nightmare. It was created byTahir Shah & Chris Freeman, I found it a little dark for my liking, but it makes some very serious points about getting caught in internet marketing hell. It’s worth it to watch and after you watch it you can download the free report about it.

You can watch the video here.

You will find that some Internet marketers choose to work exclusively with niche marketing.  A niche market is a highly targeted group of people.  For instance, if you sell cosmetics, a wide target market would consist of people who use and buy cosmetics.  A niche market may be people who use and buy mineral cosmetics.

There is a big difference between the two.  If you do not carry mineral cosmetics, the smaller niche market will not buy from you.  And if you only carry mineral cosmetics, there will be people in the wider target market who will not buy from you.

The reason Internet marketers like to work with niche markets is having the opportunity to be the only carrier of a product that will fit that niche market’s needs.  It may take some work, but if you can find a niche and offer a product or service to them, you have the opportunity to sell a lot of products or services.

Start researching your own interests and see what comes up.  Or take your target market and find out if there is a product or service that a highly targeted number of them need, but can’t seem to find.

A busy blog gets more traffic and wins faithful readers.  So what can you do when you start to run short on ideas for your blog?  You could consider making your blog a ‘community blog’ and invite a few others who share your interest in the subject matter to post on the blog alongside you.

There are large community blogs that actually pay individual bloggers to post on a regular basis.  Most of the time, though, bloggers accept the invitation and post for free just to gain the extra exposure — especially if they’re going to be blogging alongside people they know and enjoy.

An example of a community blog can be seen at BecauseMomSaidSo.com.  This blog was started by just one mom but after struggling to keep up with posting for several weeks, she invited a few other Moms to join her.  Each mom blogger is free to post on whatever topics interest her.

The blog owner has placed a few affiliate program recommendations and ads on the blog and she also encourages the individual moms to promote products that they would like to personally recommend.  The overall flavor of the blog remains personal and visitors don’t feel like it’s a big marketing fest.

If you would like to gain publicity for your business, you might want to consider writing a press release. A press release is a document that contains information about a business, product, or event and is then submitted to the media.

You can submit a press release to your local newspapers, as well as radio and television stations. You can also submit them to news services you find on the internet. Press releases follow a general format. The following are some basic tips for creating your press release; however, if you want specific instructions, you may want to consult a style book.

If you would like the media to publish your story immediately, write the words “For Immediate Release” at the top left hand corner. If you are submitting the press release ahead of an event, and you want the media to wait until a certain date to feature your story,  use the phrase “For Release After [insert date].

You will want to make sure the media know how to contact you; your contact information goes directly below the release date. You’ll want to include all relevant data, such as your name, phone number, email, and URL.

Marketing can be tricky.  There are many variables to consider.  It is much more of an art form rather than a perfect science.  If you feel like you are not getting the results you should be, here are some tips on how to review and revamp your marketing strategy.

The first thing to look at in your marketing strategy is whether or not you are targeting the right market.  Your target market is the group of people you are trying to promote your product or service to.  For example, if you have created a nursing bra, your target market would be new mothers who are breast feeding.  If your marketing efforts are not hitting that target market, you are probably not going to be seeing much response.

Another thing to consider is the color of your website and your ads, as well as the graphics that you use.  Choosing colors in complementary tones will work best. If your website consists of harsh colors or colors that do not match, your visitors may click away before they even finish reading your advertising.

If you are familiar with the Internet and websites, you are probably familiar with message boards and forums. These online communities allow people to connect, share stories, ask questions, offer information, and build relationships. By participating in these forums you can network with other Internet Marketers, communicate with potential customers and increase the amount of traffic that is visiting your website.

Most forums allow you to add a signature line to your profile. You can choose to add your name, a logo or catchphrase that describes your business and a link to your website. Your signature line will be added to each of your posts, and as people read them, they may be curious about your business and visit your site.

When you are new to a forum, post an introductory greeting and let people know who you are. These forums are a great way to build relationships. However, it takes time to build relationships and establish credibility. Try to post regularly and avoid blatant advertisements of your business. Forums often attract a number of spammers whose sole purpose is to advertise their site. These spam messages are usually deleted by the forum’s moderators.

Welcome to Traffic School 101. As a website owner, your goal is to have a steady stream of targeted traffic flowing into your site. Here are three effective and proven ways to drive traffic to your site.

Blogs are a great way to add traffic to your site. You can add a feed burner to your blog which will enable your readers to stay up to date with new posts that you add. The posts can be delivered right to their email or homepage. As you add posts to your blog, point out new articles and other content that you have recently added to your site. The more you talk about your site, the more interest you will generate.

If you choose, you can add a blog roll to your blog that lists other blogs your readers might find interesting. If you add a link of someone else’s blog to your site, ask them to add a reciprocal link to your blog. Remember to focus on your target market and what they would find interesting. If your site’s focus is on making homemade organic baby food, trading links with a blog that is focused on bulldogs won’t add targeted traffic to your site. However, trading links with blogs devoted to organic food will have a better chance at increasing your traffic.

Affiliate marketing is a technique of promoting a business, event, or cause in which an affiliate is given a commission for their promotion efforts. The commission may be based on a sale, a visit or a registration. This concept started in the 1990’s and has been growing steadily ever since.

Businesses offer affiliate programs because they only have to pay the affiliate upon performance. Since the affiliate is paid strictly on commission, the business doesn’t have a marketing expense until results are achieved. Affiliates enjoy these programs, as it allows them the opportunity to earn a passive income from home.

To find out if a company has an affiliate program, visit their website and try to find a link that says something such as “affiliates” or “associates”. In most cases, this will be found at the bottom of the home page. If the company has an affiliate program, there will be a sign up page. If the company outsourcers its program to an affiliate network, there will be a link to that site.

An affiliate network is a company that manages the affiliate programs for other companies. Two of the most popular ones are Commission Junction and Linkshare. These companies handle affiliate programs for big names such as Wal-Mart, Target, Apple, and more.

If you have suffered a setback in your business, it can be tough to get back on the proverbial horse. You may have lost confidence in yourself and your abilities. However, the longer you wait to start working once more, the harder it will be to get going again. The following are some tips to help you overcome a setback.

Stay Structured
A structured schedule can serve as both a reminder and motivator. As the old saying goes “plan your work and work your plan”.

Keep Learning
Learning new skills can help motivate you. You may choose to take a class that will further develop skills you already have or learn something new entirely. You can participate in formal classes at your local college, listen to conference calls and teleclasses, or simply buy a business-related book at the bookstore.

Hire a Business Coach
A business coach can help you evaluate your business, as well as your strengths and weaknesses. They can help you formulate a plan to get back into action and provide motivation to help you succeed.

People that are new to affiliate marketing have to face hard decisions.  There are thousands of programs available, and choosing which ones to promote can be difficult. There are thousands of affiliate programs out there.

However, it is better to be selective upfront; promoting the wrong type of affiliate programs can cause you to waste a lot of time and miss out on commissions. Here are some tips to help you choose which affiliate programs are right for you:

Keep Your Target Market in Mind
When comparing affiliate programs, it is important to remember who your target market is. What type of products do they want to purchase? If your target market is people interested in quick and easy meals, putting ads for cell phones on your site doesn’t make sense.

Do You Stand Behind The Product?
Are you proud to promote the product? If you have mixed feelings about the product, don’t promote it. It doesn’t matter how popular a product is or how well it sells; if you wouldn’t recommend the product to a friend, don’t waste your time on it.

Giving away information is a great way to boost your affiliate sales. People love to get something for free. You can use the “free information” tool several different ways in order to increase your sales.

Cosmetics companies, for instance, are famous for offering a customer a “free gift” if they spend over a certain dollar amount. People will buy things they had no intention of buying, just to get the free gift. Like the cosmetics companies, you can also offer information as a free bonus after a purchase has been made. Ask the buyer to send you a receipt, as to make sure that their order has gone through.

If you are not sure what to offer, take a look at the product you are promoting and think about what the consumer would find helpful. If you are promoting a baby product, perhaps you can offer a bonus report on a topic parents would find interesting, such as keeping babies healthy during flu season or a how-to report on making baby food.

Offering free information up front can help you build your mailing list. If you stay in contact with your mailing list and give them information they find helpful, they will trust you and will be more likely to buy from you.

Seeking a professional coach is different from becoming part of a mastermind group because with the right professional coach, you are getting a customized plan of action designed just for you.  You’re hiring someone specifically motivated to help you. And they have the experience and knowledge to help you take your career and business to the next level.

Finding the right coach for you can be overwhelming.  Here are five tips to get you headed in the right direction:

  1. Ask friends, family, and associates in your field if they know any professional coaches that they can recommend.  This is a great way to find a great coach but you already have a built in referral which is really important when hiring a coach.  You don’t want to hire someone whose personality clashes with your own or who doesn’t understand your business goals or chosen profession.
  2. If your community of friends, family and associates are not able to provide you with a list of potential coaches, consider looking online.  There are several professional coaching associations and organizations that provide geographic listings or you can visit your favorite search engine and conduct a local search by including your city in the search phrase like this:  “Professional coach”  “Manhattan”.
